Our Story

Celebration Church

Celebration Church began in a home right here in Aliso Viejo 13 years ago. Pastors Doug & Debbie Healy moved to Aliso Viejo, August 1st 1994 with their two children, Caitlyn who was 2½ and Michael who was 7 months old. The first official service was held in their home on Sunday, October 2nd with a hand full of friends and family who came to support them as they began the journey of establishing a new church in Aliso Viejo.

On Sunday, February 5th 1995, Celebration Church moved out of the Healy’s home and held their first service in a classroom at the Aliso Viejo Middle School. On Easter Sunday, April 16th Celebration held their first publicized service. Pastor Doug Healy remembers waking up to rain which required a lot of faith to trust God as they began to meet in the auditorium at the Middle School. In that first year the church grew to 25-30 people including children.

After three years in the middle school, the church took a big step of faith and signed a lease to move to the newly built National Gymnastics and Activity Center building on 4 Journey. In March of 1998, Celebration began to hold services at the activity center and opened Celebration Kid’s Company, an after school Day Care Center, for elementary children. The church had grown to 65 people at this time and occupied 3500 square feet of space.

Over the next four years Celebration church continued to increase to about 100 people and had outgrown the activity center. In July of 2002, the church signed the lease to move down the street to 7 Journey and relocated the Church and Day Care Center into a 10,000 square foot facility.

Over the last five years the church has continued to grow, now numbering 150 people, as we have expanded the ministries of the church and the day care center. In the Summer of 2006, we launched the South County Teen Center. The Teen Center’s vision is to provide a safe environment for young teens aged 11-14 to have a place to hang out after school throughout the summer and on the weekends.

Currently, Celebration is looking to purchase our own facility and property so that we can be wise stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us. The church has developed a tremendous missions program and provides ministry to the entire family with children’s and youth ministry for infants through high school.

We look into the future with a sense of faith and hope knowing the God will complete what he has started here!
